Selective Harvesting

Selective Harvesting is a form of logging in which the mature trees are harvested to ensure new growth, also known as the "take one, leave one strategy".

This form of logging involves working carefully around pockets of young and up-and-coming timber to keep damage to a minimum.  Ultimately, the increased light to the forest floor allows for a more uniform distribution of the nutrients needed for fast, healthy growth.

In this style of cutting, a mixture of high grade and low grade wood is harvested.

Land Clearing / House Lots

Land Clearing is the taking down of most or all trees allowing for field making or building lots. Also can be used for view enhancement.

Timber Stand Improvement

Timber Stand Improvement, in a nut shell, is cutting the trees with defects, trees that have reached their peak, and those that are at high risk to weather.  This method encourages younger growth while still allowing for monetary value and wildlife habitat.

In this style of cutting, most low grade wood is harvested while leaving the high grade wood standing.

Single Selective Tree Oxen Logging

Single Selective Tree Oxen Logging is a style in which you may not have enough lumber to offset the cost to move machinery in or simply don't want machinery on your land. You may have one or a few trees you would like dropped and pulled out of your property with little to no damage to the standing forest and forest floor.

I will come in with my team of trained Oxen to cut down and skid out trees that are blocking views, species of trees unwanted or disruptive to the property or perhaps pull out next year's firewood.
